The Giant Mountains, located on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic, are famous for their unique rock formations and the highest peak, Sněžka/Śnieżka, reaching 1,603 meters. Winters are cold with average -5°C (23°F) and heavy snowfall, making it a hotspot for downhill skiing at Szklarska Poręba, while summers are mild at 15°C (59°F) for hiking to the glacial lakes like Wielki Staw. The region has two distinct sides: the Polish side is busier with resort towns, whereas the Czech side offers quieter trails and historic mountain huts.
